Ensuring an excellent standard of therapy

Suzanne Moore is proper (We could look at self-care, even so mental health crisis is political, 26 November) that counselling and psychotherapy is focused on talking and this “it s better to look at things as opposed to not”. Addressing the mental health crisis is just about the complicated tasks faced by individuals and counselling and psychotherapy provide an important role to relax and play in providing a remedy. As being the three leading regulatory bodies with the counselling and psychotherapy profession, representing 50 plus,000 counsellors and psychotherapists, we take this role very seriously. Now we have registers accredited with the Professional Standards Authority, accountable to parliament, and have absolutely set up robust professional training and conduct procedures.

To make certain that we continue to keep offer consistent training requirements and practice standards all over the three professional bodies, we are mapping and defining common professional competencies for the professions. The Scope of Practice and Education for any counselling and psychotherapy professions (SCoPEd) may be a collaborative project being jointly undertaken and will enable us to make a common, evidence-based competence framework.

We are committed to ensuring people who need it have the ability to access quality services that can address their demands. Therefore, and not offering “a bewildering selection of approaches”, we wish to be certain that a selection of evidence-based remedies are delivered so that people can connect to the best treatment depending on their wants.
